Pilarín's work is like her: honest, cheerful, mischievous and simple. She is more than just an illustrator. She has enchanted us with her cheerful personality and the generosity that she knows how to show without filters. She was born in a Romanesque and Gothic stone house in Vic, like a joy of the post-war period, as she herself says. She grew up in a diverse and adventurous family that awakened her curiosity and creativity from a very young age. Grandma Tura had artistic sensitivity, she was the one who most encouraged little Pilarín to draw and kept all the drawings she made. It is not known how many she has made, but there are surely millions. They all define her own, unmistakable style that we all recognize at a glance. Pilarín's work has a clear didactic will and offers a vision of the world that is not at all sugary, but in her drawings we can also see the mischievous and fun girl that she continues to be at 81 years old. "Childhood is our homeland and the rest of our lives we are exiles," Pilarín often says.
